Put God first, then people, then things.
Dinu's Main Projects overview:
Electronics became my hobby when I was 14. Later, I got involved with experimental Physics, IT, the Internet and the Web. I worked on a lot of projects both personal and work related and while each was important to me, I have a few favorites. Some because they were my idea, some because I found them interesting and some because they were good learning experiences (don't laugh too much please).
When I first started building electronic "stuff" I was a teenager and an A student in math and physics and thought the world of myself. This led to me trying to do everything on my own. At that time I found team work boring. I started to see the light slowly when I did my national service term in the Romanian Armed Forces. Later, after starting to work, I began to appreciate team work more and more and now, it would be difficult for me not to have a work mate. In fact this web site, while being my creation, contains a lot of ideas from my friends. Now, I find it stupid not to ask other people's opinion. It's free and two brains always do better than one. Speaking of opinions, please contact me if you have any questions, comments, suggestions or complaints.
My first ever project was an AM radio in what was called in Eastern Europe a "reflex" configuration. Basically the same germanium! transistor (yes such things did exist and not everything was silicone) was used to amplify both the AM signal as the demodulated audio signal. While working on it, I was looking forward to listening to a radio I built. My euphoria was short; in the end it was just a radio and in 1978 there wasn't any good media programming in communist Romania.
I found out that we're never satisfied and we keep wanting to do more, whether more as in bigger or more as in more complex. Although I loved Physics, I started to focus more and more on electronics. Only later in my 30' I realized that Physics is the real thing and engineering as good as it gets ends up being only some limited applied Physics.
Which is why I'm happy to be back working with my buddy Ray on the gas discharge experiments mentioned here under the name SFT. This project is a tough cookie and the more we advance with it the more avenues of research and applied engineering open which means that this one will never get boring.
Speaking of projects, I hope this web site is easy to read. I enjoy the color blue in general and tend to use it a lot. If it's hard for the reader give me a break! I design web pages but I never claimed to be an artist. Good reading!
